ABOUT LIP AUGMENTATION IN TURKEY
.
LIP AUGMENTATION PROCEDURE
.
For the lip augmentation in Turkey hospitals the filler is either injected into lips or surgically positioned in the upper or lower lip to augment it.
.
TYPES OF LIP AUGMENTATION
There are various types of Lip augmentation to choose from like:
Temporary Injectable Fillers – injected to the lips to create a fuller experience. The body eventually absorbs them. The results usually last from a few weeks to several months. The most common types of lip injection fillers are collagen and fat, which are taken from another part of the body. This surgery is usually done with local anesthesia. If the patient is not happy with the result, the surgery is not redone.
Injectable Micro Implant – made from a variety of substances like polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). They are injected to the lips to create a fuller look. The results are permanent or very long lasting.
Injectable Biocatalysts – supposed to cause the body to increase formation of collagen or other tissue. Substance like poly-L-acetic acid is used for decades in sutures and other medical products. Results that take time to develop appear to be longer lasting.
Synthetic Lip Implants – are solid strips, which are implanted under the surface of the lips to expand them. The common used type of implant is made from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). The surgeon makes incisions at each corner of the lip and a special appliance is passed inside the lip from one incision to the other. The implant is then grasped by the appliance and pulled through the other end of the lip. They last until they are removed.
Tissue Derived Implants – implants are made from materials, which are harvested from human donor cadavers. The tissue is sterilized and then processed into thin sheets and then the thin strip is implanted into the lips the same way as a synthetic implant. They may last up to 2 years but eventually break down and absorbed by the body.
Lip Lift and Lip Reduction – a lip lift can be done on the upper lip in addition to lip augmentation or instead of it. An incision in the width of the nose is made below the nose, and then a thin strip of tissue and skin is removed. The incision is closed which will pull up the lip and rotate it slightly outwards. The surgery usually takes up to 90 minutes and can be done under local anesthesia. The stitches are removed in a week’s time.

DEFINITION OF LIP AUGMENTATION
.
Sutures – also called stitches, used to hold the tissues together.
.
Incision – surgical cut made in the skin during surgery or treatment.
.
Local anesthesia – induces absence of sensation to a specific part of the body.
.
FIRST DAY
.
The patients will attend a consultation with the surgeon and will be advised about the procedure and their condition. The patient will then be taken through a couple of tests that are required before the surgery. If desired, patients can spend the day to rest and attend the hospital the next day.
.
SECOND DAY
.
Lip augmentation surgery will be performed. The surgery will be performed using local anesthetic. The surgery will take between 1 to 1 1/2 hours to perform; the duration of surgery can extend depending on the extent of surgery and other surgeries done with a lip augmentation. Lip augmentation is done on an outpatient basis. Once the surgery is over the patient will be taken to a private room where they will be staying in hospital for resting. The surgeon will perform a check up and if they are approved to be in a good, healthy condition and the surgery results are all successful; the patients are advised with post treatment care requirements and are ready to be discharged from hospital to their settlements; unless there are other surgeries performed which require for a longer stay.
.
THIRD DAY
.
Patients will attend a post surgery appointment for a final check up and consultation. The patient will be advised on further medication. If everything is right then the patient is ready to return to their destination; unless patients undergo other surgeries together with a lip augmentation surgery, which require for them to stay longer.
