Nose Curvature Surgery

The septum, consisting of bone and cartilage, is the name given to the structure located between the nostrils and decoupling the nasal cavity in two.

Deformities in the septum are one of the most common causes of nasal congestion.

We define this curvature in the septum, which normally has a straight and thin structure, as a deviation. This curvature makes breathing in the nose difficult or even impossible. In advanced curvatures, the septum, which also causes deformity at the same time, is corrected by a surgery called septoplasty.

As we have always mentioned, it is a whole for your nose and outside, and it must be handled. Before these correction surgeries are performed, it is necessary to make a correct planning by taking into account the aesthetic concerns of the patient. If an aesthetic operation is needed again after this operation, the second operation will now be called revision rhinoplasty and the procedure will become more complicated.

With the deviation operation performed under general anesthesia, the septum is brought into the shape it should be and the symmetry of the nostrils is ensured as much as possible.

After the deviation surgery

you should take care to do / not do these…

Be careful not to hit your nose anywhere after the operation.

After the operation, be careful not to bump your nose somewhere, but to move your nose.

Avoid blowing for the first week.

Apply cold compresses frequently after surgery, especially in the first 72 hours.

When you need to sneeze, definitely sneeze with your mouth open

Take care to drink your drinks with a straw.

Swelling after the operation 3. It will reach its maximum level on the day and will begin to descend rapidly. Supporting your head with a second pillow while lying down and keeping it 30 degrees above the heart level will provide less swelling.

Definitely do not remove the shells for the nose with your hands and wait for them to fall off.

Take care to take a bath with warm water.
